It's so much fun getting to know these kids.

The best job ever, somedays, is working in the daycare for refugee children.

being a refuge

We often take for granted the every day blessings of electricity, water, food, and homes that are well taken care of, well-lit, and furnished. A place we can welcome others into and call home. For many refugees this simple pleasure is just a sad memory, something they once had.
Having lost all in their home country, they begin life without the basic necessities such as furniture, bedding, and dishware and have no way of obtaining these items on their own. We donate to a clothing store where refugees can not only pick out clothing and household items they need but they can also work at the store to learn the skills needed for retail work.
These families are not forgotten in God's eyes and he has called us to help refugees in need. Be A Refuge helps provide refugees with needed items to begin their new life. These items range from clothing, furniture, household items to get them started in practical ways. Additionally we guide them into job placement, job skill development and retention, and education.

Part of Muslim belief...

Part of Muslim belief about salvation is summarized in the Arabic phrase, "Insha'Allah," which means, "if Allah wills." So, even if a practicing Muslim does the five pillars of Islam PERFECTLY (which is not humanly possible), Koran teaches that Allah will accept or reject them "if he wills".

Islam's view of Salvation vs. Christianity's view of Salvation

Islam's view of Salvation:

  • Provided by God at His will
  • Faith and works prerequisites
  • Cannot be assured
    • Insha'Allah" - meaning if Allah wills...
Christianity's view of Salvation:
  • Provided by God to all who trust in Jesus Christ's atoning death on the cross;  works do not lead to salvation.
  • No prerequisites 1 John 4:19 New International Version (NIV) 19 We love because he first loved us.

A New Year, An Opportunity for Great Things!

In 2017 we helped refugees get jobs, pray with them, take them to English classes, deliver them to doctors appointments, give driving lessons, help them with groceries and utility bills, and a variety of "life issues". We've also become trusted friends they can ask any type of question to.
But there are still approximately 400 refugees families who need a family to connect to, so 2018 will be a great challenge and opportunity. God is sovereign in the ministry to refugees and He has a great, great plan!
